Post Office offers four types of insurance covers namely annual multi trip, Ski, winter trip, single trip. The number of travel days for a single trip is from 3 days to 90 days whereas the multi trip option covers any number of trips during the 12 month period. The types of travelers could include family or couple, individual or lone parent. Insurance cover includes dependant children under the age of 18 for free; the cover also applies for children traveling not only with parents but also grandparent, uncle, aunt or legal guardian. Non dependant children will receive insurance with 50% discount.
Post Office can be availed for different areas of travel which are broadly classified as UK (including Channel Islands), Europe, and Worldwide excluding USA, Canada & Caribbean, and Worldwide including USA, Canada and Caribbean.
The benefits offered by the insurance include 10% discount on annual multi trip if the insurance is booked online. As said above dependant children are covered for free. The policyholder can customize his insurance to suit his needs.
Post Office Travel Insurance cover includes personal items like sunglasses and ipods.
The Insurance policy can be booked online, by phone or in the branch office of any post office.
The policy has some restrictions on health conditions and hence policyholder has to sign the health declaration of himself and close relatives taken for the trip. Claims cannot be made for injuries out of hazardous activities. The insurance policy will take care of medical expenses in case the policyholder falls sick during travel and will also arrange for road or air ambulance if the policy holder is too ill to return home.
