Cumberland Building Society

Established initially as the Cumberland Co Operative Land and Benefit Building society, the present day Cumberland Building Society has its head office in Carlisle, Cumbria in England. It is the 20th largest building society in England. With an asset base of 1.8 billion pounds, the Cumberland Building Society is one of those few financial services organisations to have survived the current global recession. It is a member of the Building Societies Association. The first branch of the Building Society began operating in the city of Lancashire.

The Cumberland Building Society offers a wide range of financial products. These include mortgages, savings accounts, investments, loans, financial services, insurance and Tax advisory. Being a mutual building society, the organisation offers good returns on the amount of money invested as it is wholly owned by the members. Since there are no shareholders, the company need not pay any dividends that may eat into the profits. Hence a larger portion of profits can be given as returns on the investments by its members. This also lowers the interest rate on the Mortgages.

The insurance covers are available for many purposes. The common insurances include auto insurance, travel insurance, health insurance, pet insurance and home insurance. The insurance covers are flexible. This means that Cumberland Building Society can be designed according to the customer needs. Online application can be made for any of these services and the processing takes very little time. Once the application has been processed, an appointment will be given with an advisor from the organisation.
